Carolina Rezaval is professor of neurogenetics at the University of Birmingham. Her research group investigates how animals make decisions during conflicting situations. Using the fruit fly Drosophila as a model, her lab combines advanced genetics, circuit mapping, behavioral assays and in-vivo functional imaging to uncover how conflicting motivations—such as feeding versus fleeing or threat versus reward—are evaluated and prioritized in the brain.
Rezaval is a member of the FENS-Kavli Network of Excellence. Research in her lab has been supported by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council, the Leverhulme Trust, the British Council, the Royal Society and the Wellcome Trust. For more information, visit www.rezavallab.org.
