Hokto Kazama is a team director at the RIKEN Center for Brain Science. His lab aims to understand the computations and neural mechanisms underlying sensory-guided behavior, with a particular focus on olfactory behavior. He combines large-scale imaging, electrophysiology, behavioral analysis in virtual reality, and modeling to achieve the goal.
After obtaining his B.S. and Ph.D. at the University of Tokyo, he did postdoctoral research in the neurobiology department at Harvard Medical School. He has been at RIKEN since 2010.
