Katharina Eichler is a junior group leader in the genetics department at Leipzig University. Her lab uses comparative connectomics to study the evolution and development of neuronal circuits across Drosophila developmental stages, sexes and species.
Eichler earned her M.Sc. in genetics and cell biology at Leipzig University. For her Ph.D., she studied circuits for learning and memory in Drosophila larvae in a joint project between the University of Konstanz and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute’s Janelia Research Campus. Afterward, she was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Puerto Rico and in the Connectomics Group at the University of Cambridge.
