Associate professor
Spanish National Research Council

Sandra Jurado is associate professor at the Spanish National Research Council. Her laboratory is based at the Institute of Neuroscience in Alicante, Spain, where she also serves as chair of the Department of Cellular Neurobiology and Systems. Her research is focused on hypothalamic circuits, particularly the oxytocinergic and vasopressinergic systems, and their role in the regulation of social behavior. By combining molecular, cellular and systems-level approaches, her group investigates how these neuropeptide pathways influence brain function and how their dysfunction contributes to neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric disorders.

Jurado earned her Ph.D. in neuroscience at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and subsequently carried out postdoctoral training at the University of Michigan and Stanford University.
