Sushrut Thorat is a postdoctoral researcher in machine learning at the Institute of Cognitive Science at Osnabrück University, where he studies how brains and artificial neural networks learn and represent visual information. His work spans recurrent computation, lifelong/continual learning, and decision-making, with an emphasis on building resource-constrained agents and brain-aligned vision models.
He earned his Ph.D. in cognitive neuroscience at the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition, and Behaviour at Radboud University, his M.Sc. (cum laude) at the University of Trento and his B.Tech. in engineering physics at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. His research has appeared in eLife, NeuroImage and The Journal of Neuroscience, among other journals.
