The Graduate Student Scholarships, offered by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation (ASH Foundation), provide financial assistance to undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students pursuing studies in communication sciences and disorders. The scholarships encompass several specialized categories:
- International Student Scholarship: Available to non-U.S. citizens studying in the United States.
- Minority Student Scholarship: Open to U.S. citizens who are members of racial or ethnic minority groups.
- NSSLHA Scholarship: Specifically for undergraduate seniors with active memberships in the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) who will begin graduate studies in fall 2026.
- Dr. Lawrence D. Shriberg Memorial Scholarship: Students pursuing research in speech sound disorders, childhood apraxia of speech, phonetic transcription, and genetic conditions affecting speech.
- Dr. Sadanand Singh Scholarship: Students pursuing research and contributing to evidence-based practices in speech, language, or hearing.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants must be accepted to or enrolled in graduate programs in communication sciences and disorders in the United States. Clinical doctoral programs in audiology or master’s programs in speech-language pathology must be accredited by or in candidacy status from the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology. This requirement does not apply to research doctoral programs.
- Applicants must be enrolled full-time for the entire academic year.
The scholarship award is valued at 5,000 USD. Up to 26 scholarships are awarded. The application deadline is May 20, 2026.
