Andrew Iwaniuk is professor of neuroscience at the University Lethbridge. His research has generally focused on how and why the anatomy of the brain varies so much within and across species. As part of his research, he has developed the world’s largest bird brain collection, which he has used to explore how brain anatomy evolves across species. Iwaniuk has written more than 100 peer-reviewed articles.
He earned his B.Sc. (Honors) and Ph.D. at Monash University, after which he pursued postdoctoral research at the University of Alberta and the Smithsonian Institution.
Iwaniuk is an elective member of the American Ornithological Society and recipient of a Canada Research Chair in Comparative Neuroanatomy and fellowships from the Smithsonian Institution. He holds a Board of Governors Research Chair in Comparative Neuroscience.
