Lynn Waterhouse is emeritus professor and director of the Child Behavior Study program at the College of New Jersey. Her research has focused on the diagnostic behaviors of autism in children. She has proposed that the diverse behavioral manifestations of autism, the many genetic variants linked to the condition, and the ongoing dramatic increases in its prevalence challenge the validity of treating it as a single disorder. She is the author of “Rethinking Autism.”
After earning a B.A. at the University of Chicago, she received her Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, where she studied the behavior genetics of child development with Sandra Scarr.
