Tim Bayne is professor of philosophy at Monash University, a member of the Monash Centre for Consciousness and Contemplative Studies and co-director of the Brain, Mind and Consciousness program of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research. His research addresses methodological challenges in the science of consciousness, focusing on attempts to understand the distribution of consciousness in humans, non-human animals and artificial systems.
Bayne earned his B.A. (Hons) in philosophy and religious studies at the University of Otago and his Ph.D. in philosophy at the University of Arizona.
