The 2026 Hiroomi & Setsuko Kawano New Investigator Award from the International Psycho-Oncology Society (IPOS) recognizes a new investigator for outstanding research contributions in the field of psycho-oncology. This award is sponsored by the Hiroomi Kawano Foundation in Japan.
Candidates must be within seven years of active work in psycho-oncology after completing their postgraduate, fellowship or equivalent specialist training (defined as a PhD or MD or equivalent). The award is linked to professional attainment rather than to age. Nominees do NOT have to be current members of IPOS (although it is encouraged). Nominators must be Active Members of IPOS or a full member of any national psycho-oncology society.
The award consists of the Hiroomi Kawano New Investigator Glass Award, an invitation to do a 5-minute presentation at the IPOS World Congress, and complimentary conference registration. The award will be presented at the 27th Annual World Congress, which will take place in Barcelona, Spain, from 8 to 12 November 2026.
Nominations close on March 13, 2026.
