The Call for Collaborative Research Proposals in Behavioral and Cognitive Sciences as part of the NSF-BSF Program from the U.S.-Israel Binational Science Foundation (BSF) supports Israel-based researchers to collaborate in research calls from the National Science Foundation (NSF) as part of the NSF-BSF joint program in the Social, Behavioral and Economics Sciences (SBE) Directorate at the U.S. NSF.

Applications are open to researchers based in Israel to participate as non-NSF-funded collaborators. Each Israeli scientist is permitted to submit up to two NSF-BSF applications each academic year (1 Oct – 30 Sept.). The Israeli principal investigators must have obtained a PhD, MD or an equivalent degree, and must be faculty members or the equivalent. The funding provides up to 400,000 NIS, or 114,000 USD per year.

Full proposals should be submitted to the BSF according to the following deadlines:

Developmental Sciences – The deadline for the BSF is February 5, 2026 (NSF deadline is January 30, 2026).

Perception, Action and Cognition – The deadline for the BSF is February 8, 2026 (NSF deadline is February 2, 2026).

Cognitive Neuroscience – The deadline for the BSF is February 8, 2026 (NSF deadline is February 2, 2026).

Science of Learning and Augmented Intelligence Program – The deadline for the BSF is February 17, 2026 (NSF deadline is February 11, 2026).
