Friedreich's Ataxia Research Alliance (FARA)

The Graduate Research Fellowship from the Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance (FARA) supports graduate students on research projects on Friedreich’s ataxia (FA), a genetic, progressive neuromuscular disease.

Applicants must be enrolled full-time in a research-based (dissertation-required) program, leading to a Ph.D. (or equivalent) at a not-for-profit institution of higher education in the USA and worldwide. Candidates must be enrolled full-time and may not accept full-time teaching or research assistantships or internships during fellowship tenure. The grant provides 50,000 USD per year, for up to 3 years.

The next letters of intent are due on March 15, 2026. Applications close on May 15, 2026.
