The IBRO Rising Stars Awards from the International Brain Research Organization (IBRO) support early-career neuroscientists who either come from diverse and/or underrepresented backgrounds (racial/ethnic minorities, sexual orientation, special needs, etc) or lack substantial start-up funds or grant support from other agencies. This program is open to early-career neuroscientists who are
- within the first five years of their initial faculty appointment and
- starting their first independent laboratory in 2026
The amount provided is region-dependent (and does not cover indirect costs):
- Africa 10,000 USD
- Asia-Pacific 10,000 USD
- Latin America 8,000 USD
- US/Canada 30,000 USD
