The Montrone-Seigel Prize in Biomedical Sciences from the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health (FNIH) recognizes outstanding researchers.
Eligibility:
- Biomedical investigators who are 52 years of age or younger as of January 1, 2026 (in other words, born on or after January 2, 1974). A candidate nominated in a previous year may be nominated again if they still meet the age requirement.
- International candidates, as long as they are not currently or permanently living in countries sanctioned by the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Office of Foreign Asset Control. See the current list of sanctions here.
Who Can Nominate
- Members of an accredited educational or scientific institution can nominate one or more scientists. Eligible institutions are defined as private, nonprofit or government organizations engaged in biomedical research. Self-nominations are not accepted.
- Scientists working in federal government research programs, including NIH, can submit nominations.
The prize consists of a $100,000 USD honorarium. The recipient of the Montrone-Seigel Prize in Biomedical Sciences will be recognized at the FNIH Awards Ceremony, our celebration of science. The winner must accept the award in person, with travel expenses to Washington, DC, covered by the FNIH.
