Spinal Research

The Neurotechnology for Clinical Pilot Call from the Spinal Research supports UK capacity-building research projects that aim to restore, modulate, or enhance neural activity and network function following spinal cord injury. Projects should focus on invasive and/or non-invasive spinal cord and/or brain-modulating or interfacing technologies as the primary intervention. Applications from multidisciplinary teams that bring together expertise across the following are particularly encouraged:

  • Academia
  • Clinical practice
  • Engineering
  • Industry

The Primary Investigator must have a doctoral degree or equivalent terminal professional degree (e.g. MD, DVM) and must be beyond the postdoctoral level. The lead applicant must be a UK-based academician/clinician. International collaborations are encouraged. At least one clinical trial site must be located in the UK. Industry and academic partnerships are welcome.

The award provides up to 250,000 GBP over 18-30 months.

Letters of intent are due March 13, 2026. And invitations for full applications are due in June 2026.
