The Professional doctorate: clinical research training fellowship by Medical Research Council (MRC) supports clinically active healthcare professionals to undertake a higher research degree, such as a PhD or MD, to develop their clinical academic career. Eligible applicants include doctors, dentists, general practitioners, nurses, midwives, allied health professionals, clinical psychologists, healthcare scientists, pharmacists, and veterinarians. Research projects can focus on any area within MRC’s remit to improve human health, including but not limited to:
- Infections and immunity
- Molecular and cellular medicine
- Population and systems medicine
- Neurosciences and mental health
- Translation and global health research
- Public health and methodology
The fellowship provides up to 3 years of support, covering salary, tuition fees, and project costs, with 100% of justified costs funded. Joint funding opportunities with collaborating organisations are also available.
