The Addressing Substance Use PCORI Funding Announcement — Cycle 3 2026 from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) supports high-impact, patient-centered comparative clinical effectiveness research (CER) projects that focus on substance use/misuse and substance use disorders. Special Areas of Emphasis:
- Evidence-Based Strategies To Advance Prevention and Treatment of Substance Use Disorders.
- Evidence-Based Interventions for Overdose Prevention.
- Treatment Strategies Addressing the Intersection of Poor Sleep and Substance Misuse/Substance Use Disorder.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to propose individual- or cluster-randomized controlled trials. Applications are open to researchers in the USA.
The award provides up to 12 million USD for up to 5 years, direct costs only.
Letters of intent are due on September 9, 2026. Full invited applications are due on January 12, 2027.
