The BRAIN Initiative: Integrative Team-Research BRAIN Circuits Program – iBCP (RM1 Clinical Trial Not Allowed) from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) supports transdisciplinary research teams developing mechanistic, biologically grounded explanations of how neural circuits and their cellular building blocks give rise to central nervous system function, bridging circuit components, dynamic circuit activity, and behavior through integrated experimental and computational approaches.
Applications are open to higher education institutions, nonprofit organizations, for-profit companies, and state, local, tribal, and federal government entities based in the USA. Each application must be submitted as a multiple PD/PI project with 3 to 6 Program Directors/Principal Investigators of complementary expertise, along with a dedicated Program Manager at 50% FTE or more.
The funding provides awards generally not exceeding 1,000,000 USD in direct costs per fiscal year. The maximum project period is 5 years.
