Bridging the Gap Research Award (behavioral medicine | USA)

Society of Behavioral Medicine (SBM)

The Bridging the Gap Research Award from the Society of Behavioral Medicine (SBM) supports postdoctoral student members of SBM in developing competitive research grant proposals. Applicants must have received a doctoral degree before the time of application. Underrepresented individuals are strongly encouraged to apply.

Proposals are encouraged from behavioral medicine disciplines, including, but not limited to, psychology, medicine, nursing, epidemiology, nutrition, physical therapy, public health, and more. Special consideration is given to proposals addressing pressing social issues, including health inequities, vaccination, climate change, and misinformation.

Each Award consists of 8,000 USD. In addition to funding, recipients will be paired with an experienced SBM Fellow or behavioral medicine expert who will serve as a mentor throughout the 1-year funding period. They will also be paired with a past award winner for additional support. In 2026, up to four awards will be granted.

Applications close on July 15, 2026.
