The Broad Pragmatic Studies PCORI Funding Announcement — Cycle 3 2026 from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) supports patient-centered clinical effectiveness research (CER), intending to generate evidence that helps patients and members of the broader health and healthcare community make informed decisions about their health care and health outcomes.
For Cycle 3 2026, PCORI has identified Special Areas of Emphasis (SAEs) within the BPS funding opportunity:
- Improving Mental Health and Substance Use Outcomes for Pregnant and Postpartum Populations
- Cancer Survivorship
- Diabetes Prevention, Care and Treatment
- Management of Neuropathic Pain
- Management of Pain in Individuals Living With Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities or Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias
Applications are open to researchers in the USA and worldwide. Foreign organizations and nondomestic components of US organizations must provide a thorough and thoughtful justification for the research’s ability to benefit the US healthcare system and must show that the engagement plans include US patients and stakeholders and are relevant to the US healthcare system.
The award provides up to 12 million USD for up to 5 years.
Letters of intent are due on September 9, 2026. Full invited applications are due on January 12, 2027.
