Centers for AIDS Research (CFAR) and Developmental Centers for AIDS Research (D-CFAR) (P30 Clinical Trial Not Allowed) (HIV/AIDS interdisciplinary research | USA)

National Institutes of Health (NIH)

The Centers for AIDS Research (CFAR) and Developmental Centers for AIDS Research (D-CFAR) (P30 Clinical Trial Not Allowed) from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) provide administrative and shared research support to enhance HIV/AIDS research, offering infrastructure, expertise, resources, and services not readily obtained through other funding mechanisms, with an emphasis on interdisciplinary collaboration across all areas of HIV/AIDS research.

Applications are open to higher education institutions, nonprofit organizations, for-profit companies, and state, local, tribal, and federal government entities based in the United States. Only one application per institution is allowed, and institutions need an NIH-funded HIV/AIDS research base of at least 10 million USD annually to apply for a CFAR.

Base requests are set by funding tier, ranging from 1,000,000 USD for a D-CFAR to 3,250,000 USD for the highest CFAR tier, depending on the institution’s NIH HIV/AIDS funded research base. The maximum project period is 5 years.

Opportunity number: PAR-28-090

Applications open on April 25, 2027, and close on May 25, 2027.
