The CNPq/ERC Call 21/2026, from the Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq) in partnership with the European Research Council (ERC), supports research projects involving Brazilian researchers in scientific collaborations abroad, backed by ERC-funded European projects, aiming to contribute significantly to Brazil’s scientific, technological, and innovation development.
Applications are open to Brazilian citizens or foreign nationals based in Brazil who hold a doctoral degree, who is a established researcher and project coordinator, and have secured formal acceptance from an ERC-funded European project. The project execution institution must be registered in CNPq’s Institution Directory as a Brazilian scientific, technological, and innovation institution, private company, public enterprise, or nonprofit civil society organization based in Brazil.
Funding covers up to 200,000 BRL per project (up to 2,000,000 BRL in total call resources), including monthly stipends, relocation and installation allowances, and health insurance, for research stays abroad of 1 to 12 months within an overall project execution period of up to 24 months.
