Choose France for Science – Call for proposals (research chairs | all disciplines | France)

Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR)

The Choose France for Science – Call for proposals – 2025 from the Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR), under France 2030, funds chairs of excellence that bring top-level researchers and engineers working abroad to carry out major new research projects in France.

The programme supports researchers in either creating a team or joining an existing research structure. The programme is open to all disciplines, from STEM to humanities and social sciences, with particular attention to health research; climate, biodiversity and sustainable societies; digital technology and artificial intelligence; space research; agriculture, sustainable food, forests and natural resources; low-carbon energy; and digital components, systems and infrastructure.

Chairs are open only to researchers and engineers currently working abroad. Universities, schools and research organizations must invite international researchers.

Host institutions, with the support of regional and local authorities and/or companies where necessary, underwrite the funding of each project. After review, ANR may award additional funding under France 2030 of up to 50% of the total project amount. Chairs run for 3 years.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
