The Collaborative Program Grant for Interdisciplinary Teams (RM1 Clinical Trial Optional) from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) supports interdisciplinary research teams that tackle a single, focused and ambitious scientific goal.
These goals must require considerable synergy and meaningful team interaction, which could not be achieved through individual efforts or a collection of separate projects. Research must fall within the missions of the participating NIH Institutes and Centers, and applications that bridge more than one area of science are encouraged.
Applications are open to organizations based in the United States. Each application must be submitted as a multiple PD/PI project with 3 to 6 Program Directors/Principal Investigators who all hold appointments at domestic institutions.
Applications may request up to 1,500,000 USD in direct costs per year, although most awards are expected to be between 500,000 and 900,000 USD in direct costs annually. The maximum project period is 5 years.
Opportunity number: PAR-27-003
Applications are due on November 17, 2026, with further cycles closing through September 26, 2029.
