The Experimental medicine to define mechanisms of gambling disorder call for proposals from the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) and delivered by the Medical Research Council (MRC) supports academically led experimental medicine studies in humans that deepen mechanistic understanding of the causal mechanisms underlying the effects of gambling activities, products and interventions in gambling disorder.
The project lead must be based at a UK research organisation eligible for MRC funding. The full economic cost (FEC) of a project can be up to 3 million GBP, for a duration of up to 3 years. MRC will fund 80% of the FEC for organisations with standard eligibility.
Applications open on October 8, 2026, and close on April 14, 2027.
