The Gold Key Award from Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society, is the society’s highest honor, presented to a member who has made extraordinary contributions to their profession and has fostered critical innovations to enhance the health of the research enterprise, cultivate integrity in research, or promote the public understanding of science for the purpose of improving the human condition.
Candidates are Sigma Xi members nominated by other members and selected by the Executive Committee. Nominees are considered for the impact of their work across the physical, biological, mathematical, engineering, technology, and social and behavioral sciences, as well as their influence on education, their support for inclusion and research integrity, and their ability to address a broad scientific audience.
The recipient receives a gold Sigma Xi key and is invited to address attendees at the International Forum on Research Excellence (IFoRE), either remotely or in person.
Nominations are due by February 15, 2027.
