The Junior Fellows of the Simons Society of Fellows program from the Simons Foundation seeks to build a community of scholars and encourage intellectual interactions across disciplines and research centers in New York City, USA. Junior Fellows are outstanding young scientists who receive foundation support to conduct independent research at an educational institution in New York City.

Nominees must be engaged in research in pure and applied mathematics, computer and information science, life sciences (including genetics, cellular and organismic biology, neurosciences and biomedical research), or physical and engineering sciences (including astronomy, chemistry, engineering, earth sciences and physics). Candidates may be based in the USA and worldwide, must have completed their Ph.D. no earlier than May 2025 and no later than August 2027, and cannot hold a fellowship concurrently with another fellowship or a tenure-track faculty appointment.

The host institution must be an educational institution located in New York City (Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island or the Bronx), and must appoint the Junior Fellow with a postdoctoral research associate title with no teaching obligations.

The fellowship provides a stipend starting at 102,799 USD, fringe benefits, and a 10,000 USD research allowance, for up to 3 years. The host institution additionally receives 20% in indirect costs. The foundation expects to appoint up to 15 Junior Fellows in 2027.
