The Klingenstein Fellowship Awards in Neuroscience from the Esther A. & Joseph Klingenstein Fund supports innovative tenure-track neuroscientists working in the USA. The proposed research should have relevance for understanding the mechanisms underlying any of a wide range of neurological and behavioral disorders, and it may lead to improvements in the diagnosis and treatment of these disorders. Areas in neuroscience of particular interest include:
- Cellular and molecular neuroscience. Studies of the mechanisms of neuronal excitability and development, and of the genetic basis of behavior.
- Neural systems. Studies of the integrative function of the nervous system.
- Translational research. Studies designed to improve our understanding of the causes, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of neurological and psychiatric disorders.
Applicants must hold an MD or PhD and have completed their postdoctoral training. Applicants must be within the first four years of their first faculty appointment. Applicants must have a primary tenure-track position at an institution in the United States.
The award provides 150,000 USD/year (no indirect costs) for up to 3 years. Applications open annually on September 15 and close on February 1.
