The Mobility and Development Programme from Open Science NL (NWO) funds open science professionals, such as data stewards, research software engineers and community managers, to undertake a study visit at a research organization abroad. They bring the knowledge and best practices gained back to their own institution and, where possible, share them with the wider open science community.
Applications are open to professionals in open science, including experts in open access publishing, open research hardware and citizen science, who hold a permanent post, or a fixed-term post lasting at least until the end of the project, at a participating Dutch research organisation such as a university, university of applied sciences, university medical centre, KNAW or NWO institute. Persons with a zero-hour employment agreement may not apply.
Applicants may request up to 25,000 EUR per project, from a total programme budget of 500,000 EUR. Projects can last a maximum of 9 months: up to 6 months for the study visit and up to 3 months for implementing the dissemination plan.
Applications are handled in order of receipt and close on December 3, 2026, or earlier if the budget is exhausted.
