NIH OBSSR Fellowship for Using Behavioral and Social Sciences Research to Inform AI Practices in Health Research Policy and Administration (USA)

National Institutes of Health (NIH)

The Fellowship for Using Behavioral and Social Sciences Research to Inform AI Practices in Health Research Policy and Administration is funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Behavioral and Social Sciences Research (OBSSR). This is a postdoctoral research fellowship to be conducted under the guidance of OBSSR staff and leadership. Fellows are expected to be fully engaged either in-person or in a hybrid arrangement at the NIH campus in Bethesda, MD.

The OBSSR plays a key role in advancing the integration of behavioral and social sciences across NIH and is particularly interested in exploring how behavioral and social sciences research (BSSR) can inform the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in health research, policy, and administration.

Applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents, and the research must be conducted in the USA. Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in a relevant field — including Computer, Information, and Data Sciences or Social and Behavioral Sciences — received within the last five years. Current graduate students nearing degree completion may also apply, provided their degree is awarded before the appointment begins.

The fellowship provides an annual stipend of $88,000 USD. The appointment is initially for one year and may be renewed annually for up to four additional years.
