Priority Programme “Sensing LOOPS: Cortico-subcortical Interactions for Adaptive Sensing” (SPP 2411) (neuroscience | Germany)

Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG)

The Priority Programme “Sensing LOOPS: Cortico-subcortical Interactions for Adaptive Sensing” (SPP 2411) funding call from the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) invites proposals for its second funding period (LOOPS 2.0), studying how recurrent interactions between cortical and subcortical structures support adaptive sensing in the mammalian brain. Proposals addressing plasticity across timescales, naturalistic and behaviourally relevant processing, or direct comparisons across sensory systems are prioritized.

Projects must study or model mammalian corticofugal connections, measure or model neuronal activity at the microcircuit level in awake mammals, and simultaneously probe or model two or more interacting cortico-subcortical structures, at least one of them a sensory structure. Projects focusing on disease mechanisms or knock-out animals, working on non-mammalian model systems, or with a purely theoretical focus are not considered. The programme runs for six years across two funding periods, and this call covers the second three-year funding period.

Applications close on February 3, 2027.
