The Student Researcher Grant from the Nierstichting, the Dutch Kidney Foundation, supports talented (bio)medical students who want to conduct kidney research as an extracurricular activity by working on an existing renal research project at a research institute in the Netherlands.
The call is open to all topics relevant to kidney patients or the prevention of chronic kidney disease (except renal cancer) and to all types of research, from basic to implementation and from behavioral to social to medical research.
Applications are submitted by the student’s supervisor. The student must be registered at a university in the Netherlands, and the supervisor must work at a nephrology department of a Dutch university medical center or have led a Dutch Kidney Foundation-funded research project within the past 6 years. Up to 50% of the project may be performed at a foreign research institute.
The grant awards 300 EUR per month for one day of research per week or 600 EUR per month for two days per week, for 3 to 6 months. An additional budget of up to 550 EUR per month can be requested for materials and consumables that derive directly from the project.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
