The John P. McGovern Science and Society Award from Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society, recognizes achievement by a scientist or engineer that transcends their career as a researcher, including activities that support research, the communication of science, and the impact of science on society. Candidates must be nominated. The award carries an honorarium of 15,000 USD, a commemorative medal, and the opportunity to make remarks at the Society’s Annual Meeting or other suitable event.
