The Warren Alpert Distinguished Scholar Awards are funded by the Warren Alpert Foundation to support exceptional postdoctoral researchers in basic or clinical neuroscience research in the USA. These awards are intended to facilitate the transition of the recipient from a mentored position to an independent faculty position.

Candidates must be nominated by the dean or academic research officer of each medical school, academic hospital, or research institute located in the United States. Candidates must hold a post-doctoral research position at a United States medical school, research institute, or academic institution. Must also have an MD, PhD, or both, and have completed a minimum of 3 years and no more than 6 years of a post-doctoral fellowship.
