The Support for Nordic Research Collaboration in Medicine 2027 grant from the Olav Thon Stiftelsen supports research on age-related neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease, given the rising economic and social costs linked to population ageing in the Nordic countries. Supported projects are expected to draw on stem cell biology, genetic approaches, tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, or other state-of-the-art technologies to prevent disease or to repair, regrow, or replace damaged or diseased cells or tissues.
Applications are open to researchers associated with universities, university hospitals, or other academic institutions in the Nordic countries. The collaboration must include specific research groups in at least two Nordic countries and be led by personnel holding professorships or equivalent permanent academic positions. Previous collaboration, documented through co-publications or similar evidence, will be regarded as an advantage.
The funding provides up to 4,000,000 NOK per year for a maximum of four years to each project, and up to three separate projects will be supported.
Applications close on September 15, 2026.
