The Doctoral Personnel Awards for Women’s Heart and/or Brain Health from the Brain Canada Foundation and Heart & Stroke support PhD researchers in mentored training in Canada. Applicants must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or refugees and must propose a research program that seeks to build knowledge on women’s heart and/or brain health. This could include research focused on prevention, treatment, and/or recovery related to heart conditions, stroke, vascular cognitive impairment, and mental health in relation to these conditions.
Applicants must either (i) be enrolled in a Doctoral program at an eligible Canadian institution, (ii) have applied for full-time admission to a Doctoral program at an eligible Canadian institution, with a start date of no later than September 30, 2026, or (iii) are intending to reclassify from a Master’s to a Doctoral program at an eligible Canadian institution, with a start date of no later than September 30, 2026.
The funding provides up to 40,000 CAD per year for up to 3 years.
