The Golestan Fellowship from the Golestan Foundation, administered by the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities and Social Sciences (NIAS), supports researchers in the medical or biological sciences whose work intersects with the humanities and social sciences, hosted within the international and multidisciplinary community at NIAS in Amsterdam.
Applications are open to researchers with at least three years of academic experience after their PhD whose work has a clear link to the medical or biological sciences and meets the humanities or social sciences. Priority is given to researchers based outside the Netherlands.
The Golestan Foundation offers one fellowship per academic year, lasting five or ten months, with a personal stipend or a Dutch University Grant paid to the fellow’s institution for researchers affiliated with a Dutch university or research institute. NIAS also provides an office, research facilities and, where eligible, subsidized accommodation in Amsterdam or reimbursement of local public transport.
Applications for the 2028-2029 academic year open on January 15, 2027, and close on March 15, 2027.
