Mark Goldman is professor of neurobiology, physiology and behavior, and professor of ophthalmology and vision science, at the University of California, Davis. He earned his Ph.D. in physics at Harvard University in 2000 and did his postdoctoral work in theoretical neuroscience at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Goldman’s research uses mathematical modeling and computer simulations to address the cellular, synaptic and circuit mechanisms underlying neurobiological functions such as memory storage and motor control. His work has spanned problems ranging from cellular biophysics to neural coding, network dynamics and biological learning rules.
Goldman is a former action editor for the Journal of Computational Neuroscience and former co-director of the Marine Biological Laboratory’s “Methods in Computational Neuroscience” course. His past honors include being an Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellow and Howard Hughes Medical Institute Professor.
