Gregory Hickok

Distinguished professor of cognitive sciences and language science

Gregory Hickok is distinguished professor of cognitive sciences and language science at the University of California, Irvine, where he serves as chair of the language science department. He was the first elected chair of the Society for the Neurobiology of Language and is an elected fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He is the author of “The Myth of Mirror Neurons.”

Hickok earned his B.A. at the University of California, Irvine and his Ph.D. in psychology at Brandeis University. He completed postdoctoral work in cognitive neuroscience at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
